On July 20, 1941, in Buckner Prairie Community, a baby boy was born to the late Ezell Edison and Emma Dale whom they named Wilbert Dale. He was affectionately known as “Bo.” He was raised by Tim and Lou Hawkins.
Wilbert accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Enterprise Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. A. H. Pointer. He grew up in Buckner Prairie Community and attended public school in Van Vleck, graduating with the O. H. Herman Class of 1960.
Wilbert met and married the love of his life Leilani Lewis on June 4, 1965; this union united eight children. In his spare time he enjoyed playing dominoes, playing solitaire, he was an avid fisherman, and hunter.
On Tuesday, March 20, 2018, in Bay City, Texas, Wilbert’s earthly journey came to an end. He answered the call from his heavenly father to come home and be at rest. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lewis Dale and Cunnie Dale; and two sisters, Stella King and Arlene Wilcox.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Leilani Dale; four sons, Desi Lewis (Rose), Cestrakiah Lewis, Bouvier Dale (Carol), and Wilbert Dale, Jr; four daughters, Felecia Lewis, Yvette Britton (Bill), Mignon Dale-Jones (Carl), and Lae’Audquid Dale; three brothers, William Dale (Roberta), Russell Dale, and Emerson Dale (Linda); six sisters, Jean Dale, Nona Flye (Robert), Verma Wright, Audrey Rollins (Willie), Sharon Edison, and Mary Hall (John); sixteen grandchildren, Rashard, Ricky, Cestrakiah, Kristen, Kevin, Dorian, Chris, Jacqueline, LA, Grant, Tiffany, Bouvier Jr., Jakeria, Jori, Carlignon, and Carlon; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
