Amanda (Mandy) Thomas

May 19, 1929 ~ March 29, 2019 (age 89)

On May 19, 1929, a baby girl was born to Mary & Willie Thomas in Cedar Lake, Texas whom they named Amanda Thomas.   She was affectionately called “Mandy”.  Mandy grew up in Cedar Lake, Texas and attended public school in the area. She was baptized at an early age becoming a member of Bethlehem Christian Church under the leadership of Rev. R. H. Page.  In her later years, Mandy rededicated her life back to Christ under the leadership of Rev. K.W. Bree.

Mandy resided in Cedar Lake, Texas for the majority of her life. She was an owner for many years of a café/restaurant named Chat & Chew where family and friends gathered often to share laughs and have fun.  She also did private duty in Freeport, Texas for numerous years where she met many friends as she waited on her ride sitting on the bench at Kroger’s. Mandy was a kind and caring person who was loved by many. Her AGAPE love and care for others was genuine and unconditional.

Mandy loved to fish, pick pecans, help others and fellowship with family and friends under the tree which was at the home of her parents in Cedar Lake, Texas.

On, April 15, xxxx, Mandy gave birth to a son, whom she named Roy Lee Woodard.  Roy Lee was Mandy’s pride and joy. 

Mandy was preceded in death by her parents Mary & Willie Thomas, son Roy Lee Woodard, grandson Danny Woodard, brothers Horace Austin, Elisha Thomas, Albert Smith and Riley Smith and sisters Rebecca Alexander and Carrie Edison.

On Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Legacy Nursing Home in Bay City, Texas, Mandy transitioned into eternal rest.  Her soul winged its flight from this world of sorrow and pain to a place of eternal rest with Christ Jesus.

Mandy leaves to forever cherish her precious memories, a devoted daughter-in-law, Valerie Woodard of Bay City, Texas,  brother William Thomas Sr., of  Anton Texas, sister, Emma Thomas of Cedar Lane, Texas, Monique Armstrong (Otis) (reared up as sisters) Richmond Texas, God-granddaughter, Johnesha Thomas of Cedar Lane, Texas,  Great-God granddaughter Samantha Goodwin, Cedar Lane, Texas, Great -God grandson Phoenix Jenkins, Cedar Lane, Texas , God-son Cardell Monroe Jr., Bay City, Texas, sister-in-law ,Lena Thomas, Houston Texas, a special cousin, Marie Woodard, Cedar Lake, Texas and a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
